Meet Chef Sue

As a graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute in NYC Sue is following a path that started at an early age where she was exposed to the “orchestra” of a fast-moving kitchen by her father, a restaurant owner and chef. This exposure ignited in her a passion for food that's been burning ever since. Sue’s love for food and the culinary arts is apparent in her style of cooking and in the dishes she creates.

Since graduating, Sue has been constantly expanding her culinary 

horizons by travelling through the Ecuador, South Pacific, Brazil, Bali, Thailand, Mexico and Costa Rica, all the while exploring and integrating the flavorful tastes of the various regions and cultures. With these experiences in-pocket she has developed a rich knowledge base and inspired style which is apparent in her culturally rich dishes. Are you hungry yet?

In addition to her travels, Sue spent three months last winter managing a kitchen for a high-end whitewater kayaking company in Ecuador. Her guests were treated with wonderful flavors of the Ecuadorian gastronomic experience. She found teaching and training the local employee’s memorable and delighted to see them bring out the flavors of their own cuisine.

Upon her return to Lake Tahoe, Sue has worked in the industry as a Personal Chef @ Suefogel.Com, as well as, working with a private chef company that caters to seasonal guests in Lake Tahoe.


Sue is also a lead Chef for First Descents, a non-profit that takes young adults with cancer on weeklong therapy trips. First Descents allows participants to experience the benefits of getting out in nature through kayaking, surfing, & rock-climbing to help them remember how awesome life can be. As you can imagine, she feels very passionate about providing healthy food to FD!

Additionally, Sue has a deep appreciation for locally sourced foods and is extremely passionate about supporting the local farm industry.  


Other interests are biking, skiing, surfing, hiking and her newest love, kayaking! She is “Out-living-it” when she can break away from duties of the kitchen!!
